10 Traits of the Perfect Workout Partner

PIC – Partner In Crime. In this case, PIC is your workout partner. The person you can count on to help you make this workout the best workout, every workout.
Let’s go over a few of the qualities that every PIC a.k.a. workout buddy should have.

1. “If You’re on Time, You’re Late.”

We start off today with punctuality. Half of life is just showing up. For your PIC, we’re defining what’s on time. “If you’re on time, you’re late; If you’re 5 minutes early, you’re on time.” A great PIC is warmed up and ready to go when you are scheduled to start.

2. “Like a former addict, speaking at AA.”

The PIC must be motivational. There will be days when you feel you’re not ready to take on the world. However a PIC will say the right thing or set a personal record that day to inspire and bring you back to life.

3. “Karma, Karma, Karma, Chameleon.”

Virtuosity. When working out in a popular gym, some equipment may be in use when you need it. Someone may try to step in and use something while you’re doing a circuit. No problem. You’re PIC will be able to switch equipment and keep the workout flowing. The PIC will be able to keep up and continue the desired movements.

4. “Professor Meathead”

Knowledgeable. The PIC understand kinesiology, muscle physiology, and specific movements. If you have a question and can not figure out the answer, you’re able to ask the PIC because he/she will know.

5. “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop”

I don’t care if you have to leave the training floor to go puke. It’s still you’re set. The perfect PIC is relentless in the pursuit of perfecting the workout. The PIC understands the pain and struggle of challenging the body and will finish every workout without a doubt.

6. “Manager”

The PIC is empathetic. The PIC will acknowledge you’re limitations and struggles. The PIC will adjust the exercise or workout to get the most out of your potential. Also, a big part is time management. Understanding that in this busy world we live in that everything is time sensitive. Making sure workouts stay efficient is an amazing quality.

7. “I Had a Good Time, We Should do this Again Sometime.”

FUN. The PIC will make the workout enjoyable. Not every workout is designed to put a smile on your face. The PIC understands your interests, likes, dislikes, and what make you tick. It’s almost like dating someone; you go on more than one date only if you could stand being around that person. The PIC will keep you moving by purely helping you enjoy what you’re doing.

8. “I Wanna Look Like That!”

The PIC has some physical characteristics that you want to posses. The PIC gives you something to strive towards because you want to look like them in some way.

9. “This Guy’s INSANE!”

Sometimes we need some crazy in our lives. When it comes time for an intense workout, an intense person is needed to assist in the pursuit of dominating the workout. We need that PIC to have just the right amount of crazy to get us through a workout.

10. “Honest Abe”

Honesty is a huge quality from a PIC. “Am I doing my cleans correctly?” “Am I keeping my back pinched?” “Am I getting low enough on my squats?” These are all questions that a PIC will answer honestly because they understand that is the only way for you to achieve better results.
