Wall Of Legends: #1 Jon Pall Sigmarsson
By Evan Clark, NSCA-CPT
Jon Pall Sigmarsson aka “The Viking”
April 1960 – January 1993

If you read the name, Jon Pall Sigmarsson, and said, “Who the frank is this guy”? Please watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUcHKAj_tc.
The man literally rack pulled over 1000 lbs and had the breath to scream, “THERE IS NO REASON TO BE ALIVE IF YOU CAN’T DO DEADLIFT!” … what a beast. Jon Pall Sigmarsson was known as one of the strongest and greatest showman to ever lift up heavy objects. A four time winner of the World’s Strongest Man, he broke world records and always swaggered his charisma to fire up a crowd. Continuously hootin’ and hollerin’ mid-competition, he always backed it up with his norse strength and world class deadlifting.

Jon Pall hailed from Iceland, where a diet of seal steaks helped him grow strong. At peak, The Viking was somewhere around 6’ 3” and tipped the scale around 295 lbs. Sadly, Jon Pall passed away at the young age of 32 in 1993. The Viking’s legend still lives on; when the gym floor is active you can still hear meatheads scream, “There is no reason to be alive…..!!”
