Product Review: GO by EXT Sports
BY EVAN CLARK, NSCA-CPT
When I first sampled EXT Sports’ new pre-workout, the first thing that stood out to me was the name. GO is a fantastic name for a pre-workout. It's easy, it's to the point, it tells me what it’s going to make me do. Therefore, this review will be filled with puns involving the name of this outstanding pre-workout formula. The GO Matrix has everything a meathead could want in a pre-workout: creatine monohydrate, taurine, citrulline, beta-alanine and even contains special herbal extracts and the amino acid glutamine.

PROS
Energy – Fast Acting and Long Lasting
The best and most intriguing part of GO by EXT Sports is the energy boost; it gets you GOing. This swift acting pre-workout kicks in within 5-15 minutes of consumption. This is not your typical formula you take 30-40 minutes before a workout. I recommend taking it as you walk into the gym as you will feel the effects almost instantly. The cause of this is the caffeine content. Each serving contains as much caffeine as three cups of coffee (approximately 300 mg). This means that you should only take one serving as directed. If you are desensitized to stimulants like myself, this is a huge win because I am sick and tired of my tolerance to pre-workouts and how I must take more than one serving per use.
Another aspect of GO that I was pumped on was how long the energy lasted. Many pre-workout formulas’ energy boost last the first half-hour of the workout and then tucker out. When I take GO, I can GO the distance. Even after completing a regimented workout, I would often find a few extra exercises to do just because I wasn’t completely donzo yet. Having enough energy to hoot, holler and toss boulders around an hour into an intense lift is a terrific feeling.
Focus and Pump
Yea buddy! When I take GO, all I care about is lifting things up and putting them back down. I had great focus and was not interested in anything else GOing on at the gym. While I was most impressed by the long lasting energy, the focus and pump that GO gave me were solid.
Taste/Mixability
One scoop of GO with 6oz of water mixed flawlessly and tasted exquisite. My favorite is the fruit punch, which actually tastes like fruit punch. I swear when I drank it I actually expected the big Kool-Aid Man to bust through the wall and scream, “OH YEAH!”. To my dismay, this did not actually take place.
CONS
Energy
If you are sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants, you may want to start with a half serving to feel the effects.
CONCLUSION
If you are someone that truly enjoys a high energy workout, GO is for you. It is great for those with a high tolerance to stimulants and because of how long the energy lasts, I would recommend this to everyone. Once you GO, you can’t STOP.
