1994 was a pretty solid year for action movie buffs. Some notable shoot-em-ups from 1994 include Speed, Clear and Present Danger,Timecopand the film adaptation of Street Figher (big year for JCVD). However, the film that perhaps tops them all from 1994 is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classics: True Lies. This gem has plenty of Harrier Jets, Arnold Schwarzenegger riding horseback, tango, nuclear explosions and hilarious, timely Arnold one-liners.

“Predator”: the universally, galactically, internationally and nationally acclaimed non-fiction documentary about Arnold Schwarzenegger murking and outsmarting a dreadlocked alien in the dense, uninhabitable Guatemalan rain forest. It was just Arnold and The Predator, man to man, mano-a-alien, both of them possessing uncanny hunting prowess.

At first, I was going to write a standard film review of “Taken” but decided against it. My mom liked “Taken” and she hates most action flicks. Instead, of reviewing “Taken” lets learn from it and apply those lessons in the gymnasium.

MeatHead Cinema: "Top Gun"

This film is about one thing, and one thing only: being an awesome wingman, feeling the need for speed, and a cold and calculated ice man versus a gun slinging, living life by the seat of his pants maverick. It’s about looking slick singing “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” to pick up broads in classy bars, not wearing helmets on motorcycles, and a mysterious highway to the dangerzone. “Top Gun” is about requesting flybys, getting denied, and still pulling a flyby. It’s about saying, “screw the rules” and dropping below the hard deck... a win is a win. It’s about taking Meg Ryan to bed or losing her forever.
